Many of us suffer from chronic pain, so we understand how it affects our mental and physical health. Most often with chronic pain, we struggle with sleep disorders which, in addition to the pain, often leave us housebound, if not entirely bedridden, and feeling emotionally battered. I know this for a fact, as I have been through many years of pain and sleepless nights that have affected the mental and physical aspects of my life. Having explored all the doctor referrals, suggestions, and medications available, I knew there had to be a solution or at least a release from some of the pain. Turning to the holistic side, as many friends had suggested, I started down a new path.

The new holistic path was wide and varied depending on who you listened to or what you read to the point of confusion. Then I encountered a book by Carolyn Dean, The Magnesium Miracle. I figured I had tried everything else—why not floating? After all, it’s the most effective, efficient way to painlessly receive the most magnesium in a short time.

A quick explanation of floating and its history for the uninitiated: the float tank, sometimes known as a sensory deprivation tank, is an enclosed pod or chamber filled with water warmed to human body temperature. It also contains over a thousand pounds of magnesium sulfate, causing your body to float as if you were in the Dead Sea. For a minimum of one hour, you lie in the darkness as you relax deeply and seem to lose sense of time. The sleep disorder person in me relished the chance to rest passively while the floating tank worked its magic on me.

I’m telling you this because, in the end, my pain and sleep disorder affected my life and made my body look and feel older than it was. I found that after floating regularly, I had less pain and better sleep, and, as a result, my hormones were more regulated, making me feel younger, have much more energy, and look and feel better. The blast of the essential and life-giving mineral magnesium was giving me a new lease on life.

When further researching floating, it became clear that it aids the body in many ways, including pain relief, relaxation, stress relief, concentration, meditation, insomnia, helping eliminate eating disorders, assisting with hypnotherapy, and managing fibromyalgia and all autoimmune diseases.

When your body is in better health, your hormones are more balanced, and your mental and physical states are more robust. Floating naturally improves your immune system, and studies have shown that consistent floating reduces cortisol (stress) levels by over 20%. More importantly, studies also demonstrated the body’s increased resilience to handle stressful situations with a 50% reduction in cortisol variability.

Unfortunately, our bodies do not produce magnesium, and magnesium deficiency is more commonplace than we realize. In short, float for your health and wellness. Visit Cloud9 Float Spa to feel the difference magnesium can have in your life. When your body is functioning with the proper amount of magnesium, you look and feel your best. A simple, peaceful, enjoyable way to do this is by introducing floating into your health and wellness plan.
