On our recent trip to Utah, we had the exciting opportunity to spend a few nights at the newly launched evo Hotel in the Granary District of Salt Lake City. Evo is designed as an ultimate launchpad for exploring Salt Lake and the nearby world-class biking, climbing, hiking, and snow sports destinations. Transforming 100,000 square feet of warehouse space with the thoughtful renovation and assembly of five 100-year-old previously disjointed warehouses, evo hotel, and campus was created.

Campus Salt Lake includes an evo store, All Together Skatepark, Salt Lake Bouldering Project, Level 9 Sports, and evo’s first evo Hotel. “The core of evo’s mission has been to provide the community with ways to connect with what they love—the outdoors, recreation, art, culture, and beyond,” said Bryce Phillips, founder and CEO of Evo. “evo Hotel embodies this mission and we feel incredibly fortunate to have opened the first of its kind in Salt Lake.”

Accommodations
The hotel is comprised of 50 guest rooms that suit a range of needs and budgets, with four distinct room types:

  • Wasatch Rooms offer a piece of rugged luxury overlooking the Wasatch
  • Rafter Rooms are perfect for the adventurer on a budget
  • Boulder Rooms are designed with climbers in mind
  • Bunk Rooms are ideal for larger groups like families and friends

Thoughtful storage options were designed for adventurers to dry and stow active gear, such as snowboards, boots, and skis. After a long day exploring Salt Lake City, it was wonderful to come back to our Wasatch Room, which features its own private patio with either a mountain or courtyard view, 300-thread-count sheets, rain shower, music player, one-of-a-kind furniture and artwork, and intelligent gear storage.

Amenities
evo Hotel has been designed as a place for people to gather and relax. Hang out in the rooftop bar, meet with friends in the Great Hall, or find a quiet spot to work. Throughout the hotel, you’ll find art from some of their favorite local artists on display. Currently, all of the art at evo Hotel and Campus Salt Lake is curated by local couple Anna and Adam Clark. Anna is a designer and artist from Salt Lake City, and Adam is a Salt Lake City-based adventure photographer who specializes in outdoor sports and lifestyle photography.

Some of the unique amenities the evo Hotel offers are:

  • Curator’s Café shop: Proudly serving local roaster, Publik Coffee
  • Two on-site gear stores: evo and Level Nine Sports
  • Mountain-ready gear rentals: Skis, snowboards, and mountain bikes
  • Two top-notch service shops: Get your bike tuned or board waxed
  • Rooftop bar: Crown Bar with unending views of the Wasatch Mountains
  • Curated local Salt Lake art program
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi is available across campus
  • Dedicated hangouts and workspaces across campus
  • Pet-friendly rooms
  • Innovative gear storage
  • Family-friendly accommodations
  • Day passes to Salt Lake Bouldering Project: Climb, work out, and practice yoga
  • All Together Skatepark onsite

One of the best features of evo Hotel is the Crown Bar, where we enjoyed awesome views of the Wasatch Mountains from the third-floor rooftop. I loved their creative cocktail menu using local ingredients in their drinks and the firepit was a great option for chilly nights.

Other Exciting Activities
I’ll bet you’ve never been to a hotel that had an onsite rock climbing and bouldering gym! At this 26,000-square-foot indoor gym, you decide what climbing means to you, how you want to move, and why. In addition to world-class climbing, Salt Lake Bouldering Project features a yoga and fitness studio. There’s no excuse not to work out while you’re at evo!
