Peptide therapy is a relatively new, safe and effective treatment option for many conditions. Peptides are chains of amino acids, which are the building blocks of the body’s proteins. Their main function is to signal the body to release its own natural mechanisms to relieve symptoms or conditions. They may act to promote the release of anti- inflammatory substances to relieve pain. They may act to enhance hormone production and promote weight loss, better sleep, mood or cognition, or improve energy and muscle strength. There are thousands of peptides naturally occurring in our bodies. Some of the most important peptide treatments have been tested extensively and are approved and used in many countries around the world as well as in the United States.
Peptides Can Improve Stem Cell/PRP Treatment
Since peptides can help many of the conditions for which a person might receive a stem cell or PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatment, I have incorporated the administration of peptides into our treatments and have seen an enhancement of the benefits of these procedures.
The most well-known and the most widely applied treatments are those for arthritic or damaged joints, tendons and ligaments, which cause pain and negatively impact one’s mobility and lifestyle. Peptides not only play the role of being an additional independent treatment for these conditions, but peptides can improve stem cell or PRP treatment results. Since the mechanisms by which PRP and stem cell treatments work are enhanced by peptides, the results can be even better when peptides are applied within the stem cell or PRP procedure, and as a support afterwards.
Peptides for Pain Relief and Weight Loss
BPC-157 and Thymosin Beta 4 are two of the peptides commonly used with stem cell and PRP procedures. They have been shown experimentally to accelerate the healing of damaged ligaments and tendons, and shown to reduce pain in orthopedic conditions, and reduce the need for narcotic type medications. Thymosin Beta 4 may bring forth the healing capacities of stem cells making their treatment application even more effective.
Peptides are utilized to burn fat and enhance muscle, making a healthy diet and exercise regimen more successful. They are especially useful to create positive results for those who have found it difficult to lose weight due to their metabolism. Different peptides work by different mechanisms to get results. Combinations of peptides can be used at the same time as they are compatible when more than one is used to enhance results. Along with a metabolic and energy effect to enhance weight loss, peptides can act as a safe appetite suppressant allowing dieters to stick to their programs.
Peptides for Autoimmune Conditions
Peptides enhance the immune response needed for a person to overcome chronic infections such as Lyme disease and Epstein Barr virus. The peptide called Thymosin alpha-1 is used for these conditions and can also be used by those with a host of autoimmune conditions like MS, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. The peptides work to improve the health of the body’s immune responses in an attempt to stop the body from attacking itself.
The varied manifestations of fibromyalgia make it a perfect fit for a peptide treatment program. There are a number of options available depending on whether the emphasis is pain, fatigue, infection with viruses, sleep disturbance, or other problems associated with this difficult to treat condition.
Other Treatments
Peptides can be applied locally to the scalp. They are available in a foam and via a spray. Both can be used together for added benefit to treat thinning hair. The peptides called GHK-Cu, PTD, and Zinc/ Thymulin are added to a hair restoration procedure using PRP or stem cells to improving the procedures results.
There are many factors involved in determination of your “biological age”. Peptides may enhance your physiology so that you can “beat the clock”. This will allow you to be at a biologically younger age no matter your actual calendar age.
