If it weren’t for this beautiful resort, I would probably never have made it to Reno, Nevada – known as The Biggest Little City in the World, which is displayed in the famous arch over Virginia Street. The Peppermill Reno is a hotel worthy of taking up residence on the Vegas strip, however, it’s a lone jewel in the city of Reno and was chosen as the most outstanding Reno gaming/hotel property by Casino Player and Nevada magazines. In 2005, the Peppermill Reno invested $300 million in a Tuscan-themed expansion and the property is just stunning.

Immediately upon walking into the lobby, you experience a fusion of old-world hotel style with contemporary luxury amenities. We stayed in the gorgeous Tuscany Tower and from the outside the tower is a modern glass structure, reflecting sun and sky. But from the inside, it reflects the classic style of Tuscan luxury…warm colors evoke rolling green and umber Italian hillsides. You’ll literally feel like you just stepped into a palatial Tuscan villa.

With sweeping views of Reno’s cityscape and the breathtaking Sierras, the suite combined old-world splendor with sophistication. Hand-painted Italian art and private foyers provided an elegant, personal space. Each of the hotel rooms and suites feature comfortable accommodations and luxurious bedding with custom-made plush double-pillow-top mattresses and 42″ wall-mounted LCD high-def televisions.

But wait until you see the bathroom! Spacious and elegant, the marble bathroom showcased his and hers sinks, a European soaking tub and separate marble enclosed shower with dual showerheads. And of course, being ecofriendly, they provide all natural and organic toiletries.

We dined at Bimini Steakhouse, which is one of many restaurants right on property. Intimate, yet open spaces provide spectacular views of the pools and gardens as you dine in the surrounds of a virtual aquarium. Rich Koa wood, marble tables and a lush tropical feel evoke feelings of far away destinations. Of course, being at a steakhouse, we ordered the filet mignon, which you could have dry aged on the bone for 32 days in a climate-controlled room with Himalayan salt. It was absolutely delicious.

You also won’t want to miss a spa experience at Spa Toscana which is a 43,000 sq. ft. sanctuary of luxury and tranquility. There are 24 treatment rooms offering Vichy & body treatments, massage, bronzing and skincare. Even better than that were the Gentlemen and Ladies Ritual rooms with hot & cold plunge pools, cascading deluge showers, eucalyptus steam and cedar wood saunas! Few spas I’ve been to have had such indulgences!

You’ll also find high definition plasma TVs with SoSound acoustic resonance therapy in each room indulging the senses of sight and sound. And they even have what they call “experience showers” that envelope the body with a choreography of color, light and sound. The spa also offers a complete selection of natural bath and body products.

Visit the stunning Caldarium featuring the indoor pool, sun deck and Secret Garden. Natural light, soothing baths, cascading waterfalls and peaceful sanctuaries set the tone for a spa journey focusing on holistic rejuvenation and renewal. I could spend days here!

The Peppermill Reno is truly a spot not to be missed if you find yourself in Reno. They even have an electric vehicle charging station – now how’s that for ecofriendly!
